Our Philosophy
Awakhuma is built on the principle of minimal data collection. We believe that a meditation practice should be a sanctuary, not a source of data extraction.
What We Collect
We collect only what is necessary for the app to function:
- Device Identifier: A random, anonymous ID stored locally on your device to track your meditation sessions and show you your personal statistics.
- Session Data: Duration and timestamps of your meditation sessions, stored locally on your device by default.
- Nickname: An optional display name you choose.
Optional Account & Cloud Sync
You can use Awakhuma without creating an account. If you choose to create an account to sync your data across devices, we collect:
- Email and Password: If you register with email, we store your email address and a securely hashed password.
- Apple ID: If you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID and optionally your name and email (if you choose to share them).
- Google Account: If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google ID, email, and name.
- Session History: When signed in, your meditation sessions are synced to our servers for backup and cross-device access.
You can use the app fully without an account. Authentication is entirely optional.
What We Do Not Collect
- Location data
- Contacts or phone data
- Usage analytics or tracking
- Health data beyond meditation duration
Anonymous Participation Counts
When you join a collective session, we temporarily count your participation to show how many people are meditating together. This count is anonymous and not linked to any personal information.
Donations
If you choose to make a donation, payment processing is handled securely by Stripe. We do not store your payment information. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment transactions.
Data Storage
Your meditation data is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. We do not upload your personal session history to any server.
Third-Party Services
Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
- Local data: Delete the app from your device to remove all local data.
- Reset progress: Use the "Reset Journey" option in the app to clear your meditation history.
- Delete account: If you have an account, use the "Delete Account" option in your profile to permanently delete your account and all associated data from our servers.
Account deletion is immediate and irreversible. All your data will be permanently removed.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. Significant changes will be communicated through the app.
