Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about practicing collective silence with Awakhuma

About Awakhuma

What is Awakhuma?

Awakhuma is a meditation app focused on collective presence and shared silence. Unlike traditional meditation apps, there are no guided voices or music—just pure silence, experienced alone or together with others around the world.

How is it different from other meditation apps?

Most meditation apps focus on guided sessions with voices and music. Awakhuma embraces pure silence as the teacher. The app connects you with others meditating at the same moment worldwide, creating a sense of shared presence without any words.

Is Awakhuma free to use?

Yes, completely free. We offer optional "pay what you feel" contributions for those who wish to support the project, but this is entirely voluntary and doesn't unlock any additional features. Everyone enters the same silence.

Collective Sessions

When are the collective meditation sessions?

Four times daily at fixed UTC times: Awakening (05:45 UTC), Rising (11:45 UTC), Uniting (17:45 UTC), and Radiating (23:45 UTC). Sessions happen every 6 hours, and the app shows them in your local timezone so you never miss one.

How long do collective sessions last?

Each collective session lasts 11 minutes. You can join at any point during the session window and stay for as long as you wish. The app shows how many people are meditating together in real-time.

Can I meditate solo without joining collective sessions?

Absolutely. Solo sessions are available anytime, with durations from 5 to 120 minutes. You can set an intention and dedicate your practice to someone—all within your own silent space.

Account & Privacy

Do I need to create an account?

No account is required. You can use Awakhuma fully without registering. Creating an optional account (via email or Apple Sign-In) allows you to sync your meditation data across multiple devices.

How do I delete my account?

If you created an account, go to the Journey tab, tap on your profile, and scroll down to find the "Delete Account" option. This will permanently remove all your data from our servers.

Does the app work offline?

Solo sessions work fully offline. Collective sessions require an internet connection to see the participant count and synchronize with meditators worldwide.

The Journey

What do the phases (Seed, Root, Heart, Light) mean?

These are symbolic representations of your meditation journey. As you accumulate time in silence, you naturally progress through these phases. There's no competition—it's simply a reflection of your presence over time, like a plant growing toward the light.

What are acknowledgements?

Acknowledgements are gentle markers of your practice—not achievements to chase. They celebrate milestones like "First Silence", "Awakener", or "Full Cycle", honoring your commitment to presence without creating competition.
